Billie B Brown and the Case of the Missing Treasure

10.00am - 5.00pm

20 December 2025, until 1 February 2026

Billie B Brown’s next big adventure comes to the Old Melbourne Gaol

These school holidays, Old Melbourne Gaol becomes the setting for a world-first immersive Billie B Brown experience, bringing one of Australia’s most loved children’s book characters to life inside Melbourne’s infamous historic goal.

Join Billie B and the Secret Mystery Club as they take on one of their trickiest cases yet — the hunt for a long-lost treasure hidden somewhere inside the Gaol.

Years ago, a guard lost a mysterious treasure during his rounds…and it was never seen again. Billie B and her friends are convinced the truth is still out there, just waiting to be uncovered.

Using your activity map, you’ll follow a trail of clues through the historic cell block, meeting members of the Secret Mystery Club who will help guide you along the way.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Based on the much-loved Billie B Brown book series by author and Australian Children’s Laureate Sally Rippin, with illustrations by Aki Fukuoka, this self-paced mystery trail blends storytelling, history, and hands-on exploration.

Young adventurers will:

— Follow a trail of clues
— Search for old keys and decode hidden messages
— Look for clues in historical photographs
— Analyse fragments of handwritten notes from the past
— Sneak into an exhibition to uncover clues
— Finish the trail inside the Secret Mystery Club treehouse

Every step brings you closer to solving a mystery that has puzzled Gaol visitors for years.

Perfect for curious kids, book lovers, and families looking for a fun and imaginative day out.

Take Home a book and carry on the mystery.

Written by the Australian Children’s Laureate Sally Rippin, Billie B Brown is the perfect first chapter-book series.
